NFTs, short for “non-fungible tokens”, are making big waves in the digital world.

If you’ve searched the web or navigated social media lately, you’ve probably heard the term “NFT”. For this article, we’re going to imagine you already know what an NFT is, and if you don’t, there are hundreds of good resources out on the web and YouTube that can help you gain that knowledge.

The number of use cases for NFTs is endless, and is continuously growing. For example, many current uses for NFTs include profile pictures (aka PFPs), gaming, Metaverse avatars, proof of ownership, real estate transactions, and new uses are only limited by the the imaginations of innovators. This list is only going to grow as more people learn what NFTs are, how they can be used, and as more platforms and companies start implementing blockchain technology.

Blockchain technology isn’t new. Over the past thirteen plus years, it has been used by numerous cryptocurrency coins and tokens. Bitcoin lead the way in 2009, although the concept of blockchain was discussed prior to that by computer scientists, such as Ralph Merkle and others. Robert Sheldon noted, “Merkle described an approach to public key distribution and digital ‘tree authentication’ in his 1979 Ph.D. thesis at Stanford University”. This shows us that blockchain, at least as a conceptual thought, has been around for close to forty-two years.

Fast forward to 2022, and blockchain technology is being used for numerous other things besides just crypto; for instance, NFTs is a popular use case for blockchain technology. Many NFT artists and projects out there have created NFTs, sometimes as a single NFT, other times as one-of-one collections, and also larger, generative collections. In many cases, NFT creators provide additional utility to their holders (e.g., exclusive access to events, club memberships, etc.), while some project creators simply provide a collection of art which is the only asset to the holder.

Dreamy Geeks is an NFT project that was launched on the Ethereum blockchain in November, 2021. Without relying on a large marketing budget or celebrity endorsements, Dreamy Geeks has grown organically through the community by word-of-mouth, and through Clubhouse rooms the creators host, where they help educate and onboard people about NFTs and blockchain fundamentals. The purpose and art of the project has attracted geeks, innovators, and early adopters across the globe who want to participate in future Dreamy Geeks hackathons, events, and other developments that are in the pipeline.

What’s different about the Dreamy Geeks project?

From inception, the Dreamy Geeks project was focused on utilizing NFTs as a vehicle for social good. Currently, as part of the purpose, roadmap, and utility, the community of holders will collaborate and work together in hackathon-for-good events to come up with solutions for issues plaguing humanity and the world, such as access to education, world hunger, homelessness, water quality, equality, poverty, suicide prevention, metaverse innovation, Web3 adoption, and more.

Free education for anyone, anywhere (with an internet connection) is also in the Dreamy Geeks roadmap.

The development of a free education platform will commence upon 80% minting of the collection. This platform will provide 100% free educational courses that will be incrementally added as the platform grows. Users of the platform can choose to take any course available and obtain the knowledge at no cost whatsoever. There will be only a small fee if the users want to mint their certificates of completion to the blockchain, as NFTs. Holding a certificate of completion in a blockchain wallet will allow a participant to easily present the certificates to their employers, colleagues, social networks, etc., just by sharing their public wallets.

Every holder of a Dreamy Geek NFT will be a founding member of the free education platform, and based upon the amount of tokens held will have a different founding status, as listed below.

Founding member status by Dreamy Geeks held:

Founding Member: 1 +
Bronze Founding Member: 10 +
Silver Founding Member: 25 +
Gold Founding Member: 50 +
Platinum Founding Member: 75 +
Diamond Founding Member: 100 +
